Scholarships to Honor Teachers
Dear Blair Friends,
Growing from our desire to honor the memory of Mrs. Sylvia Wubnig ( who passed away in 2008) and adding a desire to recognize the work of AP English teacher Mr. Orloff and Chemistry teacher Mrs. Abramson, we’ve now created:
GHET – Graduates Honoring Excellence in Teaching.
A dedicated scholarship fund has been established at Blair with three sub-accounts:
English – Mrs. Wubnig English – Mr. Orloff Science – Mrs. Abramson
The English scholarship(s) will honor Mrs. Wubnig one year, Mr. Orloff the next, in any year where funds collected exceed $1000. The Science scholarship(s) will honor Mrs. A, again in any year where accumulated funds equal or exceed $1000. Any unexpended funds will roll over within each sub- account, to the following year. Students are selected for these scholarships based on merit, by the honors/AP/magnet faculty at Blair. In cases where the faculty committee is tied, designated representatives for the year (Allen Chauvenet and Susan Zepeda have volunteered for 2009-2010) will step in to break the tie.
If you’d like to make a tax-deductible donation to this cause, please make your check out to MBHS or Montgomery Blair High School. In the memo or comment section of the check (lower left), write GHET-Orloff, GHET-Wubnig (or GHET-English to honor both) or GHET-Science.
Checks should be mailed to the attention of:
James W. Funk, Business Manager

Thanks to all who helped with this group decision-making memorial effort. And best wishes to all for a good New Year.
