Phillip Gainous, Principal from 1984-2007
Blair’s longest serving Principal (and at the time he left, the County’s longest serving High School Principal), Gainous (who had previously been a Principal in Prince William County, VA) dealt with years of changing demographics and the task of directing both Magnet and basic programs at the school. A former football player who originally wanted to be a doctor, Gainous also had the unenviable task of helping with the decision to close the Wayne Ave. campus and construct the “new” Blair. He was instrumental in helping make a smooth transition to the school’s current location.
